If there is personal information you wouldn't want your mother to see on this
computer, the fastest method can be used. This is effective against anybody who
doesn't really want to restore information from your disk.
Someone with a few thousand dollars and some technical know-how could probably
restore information from a disk that has been wiped out using the simplest
(and fastest) method. If there are medical or financial records on this
computer, you'll want to use one of the more secure (and slower) methods.
If the information on this computer is a matter of national security, you
shouldn't be using this utility at all. There are federal standards for
destruction of sensitive data, and while this utility probably conforms to some
of them, I make no such warranty. You're probably best off taking a sledge
hammer to the disk until all that remains are small pieces, then disposing of
the pieces in geographically distant places.
